It is difficult to see an empty property as warm and inviting

Buyers often choose a property based on the feeling they get when they walk through the door.  For a buyer to want to buy your property it has to feel like home, be stylish and be a place in which they would aspire to live.  Home staging is presenting a property so that it feels and looks like it could be a place people would love as their home.  This is through carpets, window dressings (curtains or blinds), furniture and accessories.  It is the homely touches like vibrant tea towels and luxury soaps that make a shell feel lived in, without resulting in a cluttered environment.

Will the buyer's furniture fit in the rooms?

Even though the buyer is spending thousands on a property they are often attached to their existing furniture and so when buying a property want to imagine their three piece suite or double bed and side tables in the property.  This can be difficult to do if a property is unfurnished.  With furniture in place they can see how their own possessions could be positioned within the rooms.

A view house rather than a show house

A view house is where vignettes are created in the rooms, a table and lamp in a bedroom or an easy chair and a rug in a sitting room rather than a bed, side tables and a three piece suite.  This is cheaper to achieve than creating an entire show house and helps the property feel welcoming and stylish rather than just being a magnolia box.  The window dressings are one thing that is important to have in a property, they add warmth and colour into an otherwise often very neutral space.
